Delicate Nobby Beach, Crescent Head, NSW

Quite a strange name for a beach, but it is a great location about 5 min drive south of Crescent Head. This was sunset on day one of arriving. The forecast was for late thunderstorms that never eventuated but the cloud made for an exciting sunset.

Pebbly Beach, Crescent Head, NSW

I just returned from 4 days up at Crescent Head, NSW shooting to expand my gallery range. So while I wait for my film to get processed I’ve been going through my digital shots.

This is an 8 image panoramic stitch taken from the golf course. Edited as colour but I decided to go the black and white option. Quite a mix of things to get the final B&W look but quickly it was.

1. B&W adjustment layer set to High Contrast Red and tweeked.
2. Two Channel Mixer adjustment layers, one for the ground another for the sky set at different opacity levels.
3. Mode change to Duotone and a Pantone colour added and tweaked with curve.
4. Several selective dodge and burn layers.
5. Soft glow effect added and then masked in leaving the edges more soft than the rest.

Oakland Falls, Hazelbrook, Blue Mountains, NSW

Another shot from my trip to the Blue Mountains last week.

This one is of Oakland Falls which is just down further from Horseshoe Falls. There is another falls down from this called Burgess Falls but I was totally soaked from the days shooting and couldnt be bothered going any further and at Oakland is where I got hit by another two leaches.

This shot is a single image exposure, double processed for shadow detail and then a combination of targeted vibrance and saturation masks, a mid tone masks to drop the overall shine on the image and then luminosity masks to target various shadow areas. Might sound like a lot of work but it only ended up being about 6 layers.

Blackhead Beach, Hallidays Point, NSW

As things start gearing up for Christmas with sales and deadlines for orders, thought I would post this recent shot from Hallidays Point on the Mid North Coast while I have the time as I wait for jobs to upload to labs. Very different coastline and rock around here than here on the Central Coast.

Panoramic stitch on the 5D MkII, shot with heavy sea mist on sunrise, after taking this shot as usual I got slammed with a wall of water off the rocks and got soaked, happens all the time doing this job.

Lower Somersby Falls, Central Coast, NSW

The Central Coast really has everything a photographer could want to shoot all within a short drive. Somersby Falls is about 5 minutes out of town tucked away just of the f3 freeway.

This shot was taken this Sunday (25th Oct) on a rainy day while I was running a one on one course. Perfect conditions for shooting such a location.

Govetts Leap Lookout, Blue Mountains

I have been quite busy working on a new project so I thought I would throw up an image I have been sitting on for a while.

I took this shot on sunrise at the start of one of my Blue Mountains Day Courses earlier this year and it is a 15 image stitch shot with the 70-200 f2.8 lens on the 5D Mk II. Cropped to a 4:1 ratio.
