Imacon 343 Flextight for sale

large003046 ** NOT FOR SALE AT THIS TIME**

Over the last few months I have been reviewing all the equipment I have and prioritising what I do need and what I dont. I am shooting a lot of digital now and film when I really think the lighting better suits it.

So next on the chopping block is my Imacon 343 Flextight scanner. I have owned this since new and you would be the second owner. When not in use it has always been covered and has sat on my work desk all it’s life.

The scanner was bought from Pro Scan and it is outside of it’s warranty period.

The scanner comes in it’s original box and padding. Along with 5 scanning plates. (three came with the scanner and the additional ones I have is the 35mm strip plate and the 6 x 17 plate) and the FlexColor software. So you can scan anything from 35mm through to 6 x 17.

All the work on my web site has been scanned with this scanner. It can scan up to 3200dpi in both 8 or 16 bit.

Selling for $5500. The purchase price for this was just over $10 grand.

If your a business check with the ATO as buying this may qualify for the 30% tax rebate as it is an asset. (ends this financial year)

This model is no longer in production and the cheapest version of a new Imacon you can now buy new is the X1 and that’s around $25 grand I believe.

The scanner can still be serviced / repaired by Pro Scan in Sydney, so there is no worry about parts or after sale service.

The scanner is in perfect working order.

Will only send via traceable courier in Australia or if overseas buyer by FedEx at buyers expense.

Craigs Hut, Apline National Park, Victoria

Craigs Hut, Classic View

A few more shots from my successful trip to Craig’s Hut earlier this month.

All are panoramic stitches of various numbers and cropped to replicate film format sizes. I did shoot two rolls of film on the GX617 but they were mostly long exposure stuff and after seeing the kind of quality I got from digital I’m in no rush to get them developed. Another nail in the coffin for film… well for me anyway.

All shot on the Canon 5D Mark II | 24 – 70mm f2.8 lens

Craigs Hut – Mt Stirling, Victoria

Craigs Hut, Mt Stirling, Victoria

On my way down to Melbourne to run my courses I decided to make the most of the trip and stop overnight at Mansfield which is about a 45 minute drive to Craigs Hut.

We stayed at the Mansfield Motel and by chance the owner Ash (great bloke) was an avid photographer and was keen to head out to the hut as well and see if the snow had remained from a recent dump.

As luck would have it Ash was also the owner of a Landcruiser Sahara, talk about a luxury 4WD with balls so the trip to the hut was a breeze. Far better than my last memories of my trip to the hut many years ago where is was foggy and raining.

The snow had pretty much melted and only small patches remained but the warm light that was present as the sun slowly dropped was amazing. A photographers delight.

The hut which was never used as shelter for travellers was part of the movie set for The man from Snowy River and was moved to this location as a tourist attraction. Unfortunately it burnt down on the 11th of December 2006 by bush fires and was later rebuilt under a bit of controversy with it not being re built to the same design as the last one and budget blow outs… link

But to the first time visitor you wont know the difference and it is a worth while trip and the hut looks great.

This is just one of many shots and compositions from the afternoon. I will post more soon.

Canon Super Telephoto 1200mm f5.6L – Yea Baby !

116642 Well guys if you ever wanted to get your hands on a Canon 1200mm f5.6 lens which are custom made to order then now is your chance. For a lazy $120 grand US you can get one second hand on B & H Photo. link

I remember many years ago I went to a Photo Expo here in Sydney and they had one of these on display and the price was marked “POA”. I asked the guy at the Canon display how much it was and he pointed to a red Holden Barina that was also there on display and he said if you buy the lens you get the car. Enough said.

Imagine stitching with this thing. Wow.
