Woy Woy Photos, Central Coast, NSW

Going through some shots that I have accumulated over the last few weeks or so from teaching and also my own work.

This one is a great spot located in Woy Woy. This location is usually accompanied by a large fishing boat moored to the left but of late the owner has been heading out in the late afternoon to fish leaving the spot open for a different kind of composition.

This shot will be added to my main Central Coast Gallery in the very near future.

Single image shot on the 5D MkII | 17-40mm lens @ 17mm.

Woy Woy, Central Coast, NSW

Overcast days are never a right off in terms of taking photo’s. Out teaching and exploring the Woy Woy area for shots and this boat is so photogenic. The small boat to the left was sunk for a while and has since been resurrected which is great. Nothing worse than seeing great spots like this die off, like the other great location down the road “Sheathers Wharf” that is now a shadow of its former self.

Woy Woy – The Film Version – Fuji GX617 – Velvia 50 Slide Film

A few posts ago I showed you all a shot from this location on sunrise shot as a panoramic stitch shot on the 5D MkII. I even did a video tutorial for Rubbing Pixels on the post production involved to get the shot to it print ready status. Well this shot is the film version from the Fuji GX617 on Velvia 50.

Woy Woy Dawn – Digital Panoramic Stitching

Up this morning about an hour before sunrise and looked up at the bleak gray sky and for a split second I thought… is that a hint of magenta in the clouds. From past experience I have learnt not to second guess what you think you might see… if you think you see it, then it is there, so get your ass out quickly.

So I grabbed my young bloke who had just finished his breakfast and we headed out to Woy Woy and this was the result. At the rip old age of 2 years 3 months my son Christian was a great help, carrying stuff, helping me move my tripod, getting things from my bag that I asked for and also stuff I didn’t, awesome company.

This shot is a 13 image panoramic shot vertically on the 5D Mk II | 24-70 f 2.8 lens | lee 2 stop soft grad. I really try and process my digital shots so they don’t look too much like digital shots, if that makes sense so I deliberately close down the dynamic range a bit in areas to make it look more like film. Shot with the GX617 as well from this spot so will be great to see the difference in colour.

Woy Woy Boats on Fuji GX617

Early Morning - Woy Woy

A few posts ago I added a shot of this spot in Woy Woy on the Central Coast that was shot on the 5D Mark II. This is a shot taken with the good old trusty Fuji GX617 from the same morning just a bit earlier. The film has captured the colour a lot better and the composition is much more flattering as well.

From memory F22 @ 2 sec | Velvia 50 | 2 stop lee ND soft grad.
