Box Beach, Shoal Bay, Port Stephens Photos, NSW

A recent trip to Port Stephens resulted in quite a few nice images. This is one of them. Freezing cold on this morning about 2 degrees + wind chill. Those that follow my facebook feed would have seen my makeshift Beenie I had to use at the time. It worked a treat.

Heading off to the Far North Coast, NSW next week for shooting, so some images from there soon.

This shot was taken on the Fuji GX617 90mm lens Velvia 50 | 1 stop lee soft grad.

Manly Beach Photos, Northern Beaches, Sydney, NSW

This was last nights sunset over Manly while I was out teaching my Northern Beaches Day Course. The sunset to the left was great, but there wasnt much of a composition shooting right into it. So this one is a panoramic stitch (8 images) going from South Steyne to Curl Curl Headland.

Sort of hoped the nice light would have filtered through more making the shot more of a keeper, but this one is off to the stock site.

Ken Duncan – Great Southern Land Exhibition

For those who follow the work of Ken Duncan around this time each year he releases his latest exhibition of images.

His latest exhibition is now out and is titled Great Southern Land. Once again beautiful work from some places that take quite a bit of dedication and planning to get to like Macquarie Island.

Anyway have a look and enjoy. (Exhibition Link)

Soldiers Beach, Central Coast, NSW

On this morning I shot this sequence of shots and then when the sun breached the horizon I walked across rocks to another area to take advantage of the new light. Because it wasnt far I just picked up my tripod (camera, head still attached) and walked. When I walked down a slight slope I failed to see it was covered in slippery slime and I slipped over and came crashing down. My knees took a bounding but my camera was perfect… god it hurt but it would have hurt more to see me camera gear damaged.

Approaching Storm, The Entrance

The icy wind on this day had to be experienced to be believed, the weather changed so quickly from a hot sunny day to overcast and rain in mere moments. This image is stitched in Photoshop CS3 which I am liking over PTGui at the moment. I have been doing a lot of reading and watching online tutorials on Camera RAW and 95% of the post production of the shots that made this image up is done in Camera RAW prior to opening in CS3 and joining.

Veterans Hall Wharf, Davistown

Veterans Hall Wharf, Central Coast

Davistown on the Central Coast is lined with private wharfs and boats. Finding the right location is tricky but when you do it is rewarding. What started as a clear sunrise turned into something that was a nice surprise. My first real shoot after having the shutter replaced in my 1ds Mark II.

Best original capture

My first video post which I have titled “best original capture” shows you a transparency scanned on my Imacon 343 just to indicate the quality of an original capture on Velvia slide film without any processing in Photoshop.

After previewing the movie I thought to myself…. Gee do I really sound like that. I thought I sounded way cooler… oh well.
