I remember the day where I wished I had one 617 camera and now I have three.
Since the purchase of my Fuji GX617 I no longer need to hold onto my other panoramic systems and they are now for sale.
Both cameras have just been fully serviced, shutters cleaned and tested and strip cleaned by Baltronics (Sun studios) a professional camera workshop here in Sydney. Proof of service can be supplied if needed.
Fuji G617 (fixed 105mm lens) – $3200 – SOLD
Camera shows minor signs of use and cosmetic markings. Clean optics, center filter and view finder. Camera takes 120 and 220 medium format film. Center filter included, along with original lens hood.
Linhof 617 (fixed 90mm lens) – $3900 – SOLD
Camera is in excellent condition, minor marks on body from metal buckles on strap. Clean optics. Removable view finder (clean and clear). No center filter. Camera takes 120 medium format film. I have owned the camera since Jan 08. I am the second owner and have the original purchase documents and manual. I have shot with this camera and found the use of a center filter is a personal choice but I havent had any fall off issues.
With both cameras I will through in a cable release and a couple of pro packs of Velvia 50 to get you started.
The Fuji G617 has got me to where I am today with my photography and my website is a testament to what this camera can do for you. The Linhof has been just as good but upgrading to the GX617 with a 90mm was always a plan.
Will post worldwide via a traceable service at buyers expense. Email me at info@mattlauder.com.au if your interested or have any further questions or want to see further photo’s of the systems.

I no longer have my Fuji G617 as it was just a loaner
I reckon some day I might just buy one of these, that Linhof is gorgeous. For now, though, my money goes to the 5D Mk II

Hello Matt,
A Ross person who recommendsyour site to view is selling his Linhof S with the 90 mm. Schneider for approx. 4800 $ which would be approx. 5000$ CAD ( for me). Th price is 2400 GBP.
As I can not see the camera up close and am a bit leery of ebay sales- wouldyou trust the camera as stated?
I have used a friend’s Fuji 617 and loveit. I do own a Horseman 612 with a 55mm lens and has serious flare problems despite it being fixed.
What do you suggest- I am not Ms. moneybags.

Hi Susan, thanks for the post.
In my experience if you have doubts about an ebay sale then walk away there will be another camera listed. If you decide to buy I highly recommend using a 3rd party payment gateway like Escrow. You send the money to Escrow, the seller sends the goods and on receipt if your happy you confirm the release of the money from Escrow to the seller.
If the seller tells you he will send the item first and give you a tracking number and then you pay him, remember he can recall his camera while in transit back to himself and then your stuffed.
Also confirm their details, if they have low feedback let them take a risk as well as they haven’t proved them selves as a seller.
I have also found people selling panoramic cameras as their own, list it and make silly mistakes in talking about the camera proving that they haven’t never shot the camera before and are possibly selling it for someone else or it could even be stolen goods.
Hope this helps.

Matt,
Could you recommend an entry level landscape camera for someone starting out. I’m interested in doing some landscape photos but cant justify the expense of some of the cameras on offer when I am just starting out. Not sure if there is anything out there for someone on a budget but I thought i’d ask. Cheers.

Hard question to answer Brian without knowing your budget. Film wise I would say go for a second hand Xpan panoramic camera and shoot velvia 50 with it. With digital I would go for the new 7D that is now out ($2500) and pick yourself up a 24-105mm f4 lens ($1100) and a Manfrotto 190XBPro tripod ($380). Not sure what 2nd hand Xpans go for… check Ebay.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Hi Brian, I have a 2nd hand X-pan if your interested, it also comes (along with the standard 45mm) with the 90mm lens. The only other lens available for the xpan is the 30mm, but that comes with a 3k+ price tag!!
The 90mm lens has a bit of history as it was owned by Ken duncan, he used it to shoot the book ‘The Passion of the Christ’ albeit It didnt get used that much, theres still a couple of shots in the book from it.
Send an email to bryceworld at bigpond dot com if your interested.
Cheers mate
